It’s official: Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun will star in a new romance drama together!

JTBC confirmed on June 19 that the two actors would play the leads in its upcoming drama “Welcome to Samdalri” (literal title).

“Welcome to Samdalri,” directed by Cha Young Hoon of “When the Camellia Blooms,” will star Ji Chang Wook as Jo Yong Pil, a man who has lived in his hometown on Jeju Island his entire life in order to protect its residents.

After losing his mother, a haenyeo (female diver who harvests sea life for a living), at a young age due to an incorrect weather report, Jo Yong Pil decides to become a weather forecaster and protect his hometown’s elders. His passion, on the other hand, and refusal to accept misinformation earn him a reputation at work as a stubborn troublemaker who isn’t afraid to argue with his boss.

Meanwhile, Shin Hye Sun will play Jo Sam Dal, who grew up as a close childhood friend of Jo Yong Pil. Unlike Jo Yong Pil, who was content to stay in his hometown of Samdalri, Jo Sam Dal made it her mission to leave Samdalri and relocate to Seoul.

Jo Sam Dal, who changes her name to Jo Eun Hye in Seoul, finally succeeds after years of toiling as an assistant in the fashion photography industry. When everything she’s worked so hard to build falls apart in the blink of an eye, she returns to Samdalri, where people still refer to her as Sam Dal rather than Eun Hye.

Although Jo Yong Pil and Jo Sam Dal were once inseparable friends, they are no longer in contact with one another as a result of an incident that drove them apart. When Jo Sam Dal returns to Samdalri, they discover that the long-held affection they once shared returns all too quickly.

“Welcome to Samdalri” is set to premiere in the second half of 2023.

Do you look forward to seeing Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun in this new drama?
