The cast and broadcast schedule for Song Joong Ki, Shin Hyun Been, and Lee Sung Min’s upcoming drama “Reborn Rich” have been confirmed!
“Reborn Rich,” based on a popular web novel, is a fantasy drama set in the turbulent 1980s about the secretary of a chaebol family, Yoon Hyun Woo (Song Joong Ki), who is reborn as the family’s youngest son, Jin Do Joon (also played by Song Joong Ki).
Song Joong Ki will play Yoon Hyun Woo, who dies after being falsely accused of embezzlement by the Sunyang Group family to which he was loyal. As a form of vengeance, he reincarnates as the family’s youngest son, Jin Do Joon, and works to take over the company.
Lee Sung Min had previously been confirmed to play Jin Yang Chul, the CEO of Sunyang Group. He rose from poverty to the top of the financial world, becoming a relentlessly competitive and harsh character with an endless greed for money.
Shin Hyun Been will play anti-corruption prosecutor Seo Min Young, who comes from a prominent legal family. With the moniker “Sunyang Group’s Grim Reaper,” Seo Min Young is willing to cross legal lines if it means serving justice.
Furthermore, Yoon Je Moon will play Jin Yang Chul’s oldest son Jin Young Ki, while Kim Jung Nam will play Son Jung Rae, Jin Young Ki’s wife with the typical chaebol mindset and a careless personality. Jo Han Chul will play Jin Yang Chul’s second eldest son, Jin Dong Ki, who excels at using his brain for petty tricks. Seo Jae Hee will play Jin Dong Ki’s wife, Yoo Ji Na, who comes from a wealthy family. Kim Young Jae has been cast as Jin Do Joon’s father, as well as Jin Yang Chul’s third son, Jin Yoon Ki. Jung Hye Young will play Jin Do Joon’s mother, former top star Lee Hae In. Kim Hyun will play Jin Yang Chul’s wife, Lee Pil Ok, a founding member of the Sunyang Empire.
Kim Shin Rok plays Jin Yang Chul’s daughter Jin Hwa Young, while Kim Do Hyun plays Jin Hwa Young’s husband Choi Chang Je, dubbed the “male Cinderella.” Oh Se Hyun, Jin Do Joon’s partner, will be played by Park Hyuk Kwon. Kim Nam Hee will play Sunyang Group heir Jin Sung Joon, and Park Ji Hyun will play Mo Hyun Min, his chosen arranged marriage partner. Tiffany from Girls’ Generation will transform into Rachel, Oh Se Hyun’s right hand.
“‘Reborn Rich’ is a life-reset story of one man who is at death’s door but revives as the youngest son of a chaebol family in 1987,” the production team explained. It’s a project set in a unique fantasy world with retro [vibes]. None of the characters are typical, and each has their own greed and story to tell. The carefully woven relationships of these carefully woven characters on top of a time of upheaval will deliver entertainment [to viewers] on a whole new level.”
“Reborn Rich” will premiere in the second half of 2022 on JTBC.
