The classic Korean animation “Young Shim” is making a comeback as a drama!

On October 5, production company The Great Show announced that Song Ha Yoon, Donghae, Lee Min Jae, and Jung Woo Yeon of Super Junior will star in the new drama “Oh! Young Shim” (literal title).

“Oh! Young Shim” is a romantic comedy about a reunion between Oh Young Shim and Wang Kyung Tae as they enter their 30s and experience the sweetness and bitterness of life. Retro vibes will be added to recreate the original animation’s pleasant and warm atmosphere, creating a unique atmosphere that combines modern and retro vibes.

Song Ha Yoon will play Oh Young Shim, a 30-year-old woman who has worked as a producing director (PD) in the entertainment industry for about eight years. Because of her overzealous enthusiasm, she is dubbed a “icon of early endings” by the entertainment industry because her shows are frequently canceled. In the midst of a crisis, she seizes the opportunity to produce a pilot romance variety show and discovers that the CEO of a well-known startup who has been cast to ensure the show’s success is Wang Kyung Tae, a crybaby who has been pursuing her for a long time.

Donghae will portray Wang Kyung Tae (Mark Wang), the CEO of the well-known startup Kingvely. The crybaby who followed Oh Young Shim despite her teasing as a child reappears 20 years later as Mark Wang, the founder of the unicorn startup Kingvely. Wang Kyung Tae, a cold-looking perfectionist, accidentally reunites with his first love Oh Young Shim and recalls painful childhood memories.

Lee Min Jae will play Oh Young Shim’s junior colleague Lee Chae Dong, and Jung Woo Yeon will play Oh Young Shim’s best friend Gu Wol Sook.

This upcoming drama will be directed by Oh Hwan Min and Kim Kyung Eun of “Misty,” “Moments of 18,” “My Country,” “Navillera,” and “The Road: The Tragedy of One,” and written by Jeon Seon Young of the films “Golden Slumber,” “A Deadbeat’s Meal,” and others.

“If you grew up watching the animation ‘Young Shim,’ you can relate to and feel nostalgia for the image of a grown-up Young Shim that you would have imagined at least once,” the production team said.

“Oh! “Young Shim” has wrapped filming and is set to premiere in the first half of next year. Stay tuned for more information!
