Song Joong Ki will appear in his upcoming film for free in order to support the artistic quality of the project!

Song Joong Ki’s agency, HISTORY D&C, announced in June that the actor was positively reviewing an offer to star in the upcoming noir film “Hwaran” (romanized title).

On September 30, Song Joong Ki’s representatives confirmed that he would appear in “Hwaran” with “no guarantee,” implying that he had decided not to be compensated for his appearance.

“Hwaran” is a noir film about Yeon Gyu (Hong Sa Bin), a young man who wants to escape his hellish reality. When he meets Chi Geon (Song Joong Ki), who is in charge of middle management for an organization, the two embark on a dangerous journey together. BIBI also appears in the film.

The film will be produced by HISTORY D&C, which also represents Song Joong Ki. The agency, however, confirmed that their participation in the production was unrelated to the actor’s decision not to receive a separate fee for his appearance.

“I’m happy to appear in ‘Hwaran,’ and because it’s a project that will be a new challenge for me, it feels new,” the actor said. “I’m excited to work with the director and actors to create a competitive and passionate set.”

Song Joong Ki is currently shooting the JTBC drama “Chaebol Family’s Youngest Son” (literal title), a fantasy drama based on the same-named hit web novel about a chaebol family’s secretary who is reborn as the family’s youngest son.
